Blue Mountains Elopements

Get married in one of the most beautiful places in New South Wales. We’ll help you plan everything with one of our Blue Mountains elopement packages.

Breathtaking Blue Mountains

With incredible cliff faces, waterfalls and eucalyptus forests, the Blue Mountains provide some stunning spots to have your small wedding. It’s a truly unique location that has a ton of wildlife and offers calm and serenity.

There are guesthouses scattered across Katoomba, Leura, Medlow Bath and all of the other towns in the Blue Mountains. These make it the perfect place to have a romantic getaway for a few nights to really soak in your wedding. Top off the day with a delicious meal at one of the many dining destinations in the region (we can help you pick a spot for dinner).

The Blue Mountains also offers different climates depending on the time of year. Summer can get ripping hot if that’s what you’re after, while it can snow in winter. Each season offers unique features depending on what you’re looking for.

We have a few elopement packages available to make your Blue Mountains wedding dreams a reality. Check them out below, get in touch and let’s get planning.

FAQ

Here are some questions we get about Blue Mountains elopements. If you can’t find an answer to your question please contact us.

One of the great things about eloping in the Blue Mountains is that there are so many places to elope for free. You may need a permit but usually they are either very cheap or free. Without having to pay for a venue, you’re saving tons of money. Just pick one of our elopement packages and you’re off to the races – no hidden costs here.

The only thing you need to worry about to start is the Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM). Your celebrant will help sort out this form which is required by the government a minimum of 30 days before the elopement can happen. Other than that, there needs to be two witnesses present in order for the marriage to be legally binding in NSW. If you can’t provide them we can help out with that too!

The ceremonies usually last between 10-30 minutes. After that it’s all down to how much photography time you’d like! That means your elopement can take just an hour, including taking some exceptional photos. That leaves the rest of the day for you to explore the area, have a romantic dinner, or whatever else suits your fancy.

Lincoln’s Rock is probably the most popular spot that we see elopements at… The views are outstanding and it’s very photogenic! That being said, we usually prefer a less busy location to have a more intimate event. We love the the Everglades House & Gardens for elopements because it’s quite private and there are stunning views for the backdrop of the wedding photos.

There are rules across Australia that require you to submit a Notice of Intended Marriage at least 30 days before your wedding, and no more than 18 months. There are exceptions to this rule (ex. family member is sick) but you need to go through a prescribed authority in order to do it. We are unfortunately not equipped to help in rushed situations and require at least 30 days notice before your wedding date.

Yes, just like the 30 day NOIM notice, there are rules around witnesses across Australia. Each wedding ceremony must have two witnesses 18+ present to make the wedding legally binding. If you are coming from out of town, or out of the country, we can provide witnesses for you. If you get an elopement package with a photographer, they can also act as a witness too.

Yes, foreigners are legally allowed to marry across Australia. Whether one of you is foreign, or both of you, it’s 100% allowed. You will need to go through the same steps in applying for the NOIM, etc. and also provide proof of place of birth. We love planning elopements for people from all over the world, not just Australians.

Absolutely, yes we do. We have long believed that people of all sexualities should be able to get married and were all tremendously excited when gay marriage was legalised in Australia. We’d be more than happy to help with your wedding!

I can't say enough good things about Eloped we're recommending them to everyone. My now husband flew in from the US to get married on the beach in Sydney. We hadn't seen each other for a while because of COVID and it was one of the best days of my life. Our celebrant did great and the photos came out so good. Thank you!
